Let's talk brand wigs. Does anyone know where certain brands get their wigs? Or any good equivalents?

I know AP has put out their own wig in the past, but I'm curious if anyone knows where the VM curly blonde wig comes from, or that perfect ringlet Baby wig.

Would any of you be interesting in reading an informal report on the typical lifespan of burando? I was thinking of posting a survey to RC and maybe here for people to fill out about their wardrobes so I could run some numbers in excel and write a glorified blog post about changes in brand quality over the last 20 years, so we can have some concrete information as to whether brand quality actually is actually getting shittier or not.

Does anyone ever fib about their body measurements when talking about it in context of lolita? I would think people wouldn't since measurements are pretty big in this fashion - what you can fit into, if you complain about how big AP busts are or how tiny VM waists are, making your views on items have weight based on how you would fit it, and so on. But sometimes I see people say "oh I have a 65cm waist and 88cm bust" and I just can't believe it. I'm a very healthy 67 / 82 and if people aren't lying it makes me a bit self-concious that so many perfect figures are in the fashion. Then again maybe it's just a few outliers I've seen in terms of fibbing or real body size. I'm a lolita in the middle of nowhere so I haven't had a very good sample size of others to try and compare with.

on one hand, anons don't really have anything to gain by lying about measurements. on another hand, some people are stupid and insecure enough to need to do that even when they are over anon.

I've gotten one IW dress that was too tight in a M but AP and Baby are fine. Why do people post unrealistic measurements and shitpost about 90cm busts being fat? I sometimes wonder if they are just obese teenagers who have never measured or bought anything in their life, I can't even fathom what a bust under 80 would look like unless the person is tiny, since on me it wouldnt even be possible with a mastectomy (other than boobs, the rest of my chest is just ribs, not flab)

If you Google there are lots of blog posts on this.

There are honestly no directly lolita-related films except Shimotsuma Monogatari, so nothing is compulsory. If you're looking at it from a lifestyler perspective, it's all just stuff set in or inspired by related historical periods, so like Coppola's Marie Antoinette, or things featuring Victorian/Edwardian maiden protagonists like The Secret Garden, A Little Princess, Alice in Wonderland, Anne of Green Gables, etc etc. Your perspective is going to be different based on your substyle as well...a lot of gothic lolitas like horror or adaptations of Victorian gothic novels, and desu if you're not an oldschooler most sweet lolitas just seem to be into anime.

I know that feel, I'm lucky that I can make things work most of the time. I'm 81/63-65, but because I work out I have 'man shoulders' (aka most jackets are too tight if they fit my torso) compared to my size, don't have the tiny ribcage (my underbust is 68cm which I think is about normal for Asians) and have enough boob to wear a push up/padded bra if I need to. Having a wider back and shoulders have definitely saved me when it comes to wearing JSKs because the shirring doesn't bunch so much across the top, just at the waist and that is covered by the waist ties.

I always think the 'perfect' figure would be about my height (158cm), slightly narrower shoulders, same ribcage size but slightly bigger boobs (maybe 83cm bust... so you can pad/flatten as needed for different cuts), 64cm waist so you can wear most releases but aren't *too* small, maybe like 86-88cm hip so stuff that is a little big can be worn just a bit lower on the waist and won't fall off, and skinny arms and legs.

I have a lot of issues with jsks and ops gaping along the neckline and straps are always falling off. Certain styles always look terrible on me. I get the "bunch" in back too, but don't mind it nearly as much as the other issues.

Age is, whether you like it or not, something that affects your figure and measurements. Bodies change shape, with things such as boobs growing or sagging, and hips broadening, and the differences between the ages of around 20 to 30 are noticeable. That said, you can't just go off of the measurements for bust/waist/hips alone for knowing whether something will fit. Different proportions, such as shoulder width, torso length, general frame build and figure shape, etc, all factor in, as well as things such as muscle tone. Combined with the simple differences of builds between different racial groups as wel, it's very hard to say what an 'ideal' figure or set of measurements are, regardless of whether you take the ranges of measurements that the lolita brands cater for to be the perfect standard, which is a quite frankly stupid thing to do. In short, a single one simply does not exist.

Maybe for you. Some people have weird fat distribution and can't accomplish a great bust to waist ratio. Inb4 "just diet and exercise!!" I've done a fabric store after a meetup, starbucks after a meetup, a cafe to meet non-lolita friends before a lolita meetup with lolita friends (haha), popped into various stores for little things along the way to a meetup. Probably because none of these places are ever repeat visits, I still get asked why I'm dressed up (to which "I'm going to/came from a party" is a good enough answer anyway).

I've done the grocery store in head-to-toe AP before, but that's a cutsew dress with star bag and cute shoes and scrunchie instead of a poofball with bonnet, so I'm not sure if that counts. Still get some odd looks, though. I wouldn't do the grocery stores in three petticoats, but that's because some of the stores around here tend to be very narrow things and the last thing I want is a snag on my chiffon skirts due being unable to avoid brushing the shelves because I'm wearing three petticoats.

The big giant ocean between US and Japan makes it expensive and slow to shuttle stock back and forth between the Japanese store and the US store. Even if some print is so completely unsaleable in Japan that people are even avoiding AP's lucky packs, it makes more sense for AP to dump the dresses on Closet Child's doorstep than box it up, spend money and time to ship it to the US and put them on sale in the US.

So basically, whatever odd things are happening to old stock on the Japanese side doesn't affect the US side, you have to watch the US store stock independantly.

You aren't eating enough, and on 1100 cal I suspect you aren't eating enough protein. If you don't eat enough or if your macros are wrong, your body tries to hold on to its fat stores and you generally don't get as much change from your (excessive) exercise. You can do bad things to your bone density and internal organs from not eating enough (like anorexics that get fatty liver, brain shrinkage and osteoporosis). I'd go up to at least 1400cal and make sure you're mainly eating lean protein + vegetables, plus starchy carbs like sweet potato to give you good fuel to work out with, and actually ease back on the amount of cardio - maybe change it up to a shorter HIIT session or go for quality over quantity. Monitor your heart rate during cardio as well to make sure you're staying in a safe range.

Pretty sure she's too busy being ill and going to fucking tea parties in Osaka (I don't know where she actually lives over there). Insisting that she posts here is some kind of wishful thinking that she sees what's posted about her.

Really?I'm Italian and I didn'T change that much, especially on the bust area, I have a 75A, since I was 14 I had a A, just my hips and thighs grew a bit, i'm also just 5'2. I feel smaller compared to women my age (i'm in my mid 20s) but I love my body especially the fact i'm flat and I can fit every blouse and cutsew, my only concern is the waist, 71 cm. It's damn pain because I cannot go lower in waist since it''s a ribcage issue so many one size non lolita japanese skirts with no shirring would not fit me.

I definitely don't have kids, and yes I did gain weight/get fat. Getting older means no longer inhaling junk food with no consequences. And even if/when I lose the weight I gained, my hips and bust still just won't be the same as they were when I was 13. Some people change, some don't. Be grateful you managed to stay the same size.

I'd say it depends on the coord. Hair down will obscure most earrings anyway, and no one really notices rings and bracelets if you're wearing long sleeves. However, a low neck anything tends to look empty, and very plain dresses sometimes need a little pizzazz to jazz things up. If you have issues with that, just avoid low neck things and make up for the lack of jewellery in other ways.

Basically, so long as you coord around your own needs/preferences, you'll be fine. Just don't go around whining that you need asspats while looking shitty because you omg!need to wear this coord but omg!can't stand the jewellery that would make it look more complete.
