I made my first taobao order a blouse from V.Castle for about 117 yuan including fee with DDB/Super buy. It hasn't came into the warehouse yet but I'm wondering if I made a mistake in trying this. I'm not looking to spend a ton that's why so I thought it would be better to try it out with only 1 item ;;; plus budgeting. I won't be using EMS but whichever 1-2 week shipping DDB has (airmail or DHL) and the blouse shouldn't be over 250-320g so am I safe with decent low shipping costs or will I get hit with like $30 or something? Does anyone know a better term for lace front wig than the dictionary has? I'm trying to find a long grey one, but when I combined the color with the lace front search term I'm just getting normal wigs?

It's driving me crazy, cause I have all the other materials picked out for this cosplay, but I was hoping to find a decent lace front wig to add to the order.

I think it's similar to the response I got when mine was cancelled, so it seems to be on the seller's end. I also had trouble contacting the seller in my case, and either had to switch computers or use firefox instead of chrome, one of those two. It was a long while ago. Sorry I can't be more helpful, hopefully someone who reads chinese will come along and give you a more certain answer.

It got lost i think, the tracking showed "handled in your country" for almost three months without update and now it says they can't track anything anymore.

So looking at news articles, Chinese New Year will start destroying any hope for orders from the middle of Jan to near the end of Feb this year? Two weeks before the 8th of Feb, and two weeks after? Does that sound about right?

I'm trying to decide if I can risk ordering materials for a cosplay in the next few days. Since I buy direct, I have no clue how the forwarding warehouse handles charging rent for the items still there during the new years. My google translate chinese skills aren't letting me get a clear answer either.

If anyone can recommend a way to ask something like "do you charge warehouse rent during the new years shut down?" of "do the days of the new years shut down count towards free warehouse days" I'd be very grateful.

It might be easier to contact them through there instead of the Taobao interface.

It's labeled kimono on the translation, but granted I don't know Japanese clothing so I'm probably wrong. I think it's divided into top and skirt, but 10 cm still seems like a lot to roll up or pin without making a weird shape which is why I'm a bit concerned.

That's not a kimono, that's a women's hakama best as I can tell (unless there's another term for it).
I'm not familiar with wearing hakama since I don't own one but I have seen the cheap mens ones at cons before and they tie at the waist so it's not really possible to roll them up unless you mess with the ties a bit. You can pull the lower half up to just under your bust though and invest in shoes with a bit of chunk to compensate.

Is taobao going down for everyone else when trying to go to store fronts? I'm annoyed because I'm trying to add a couple more things to my order today, but it's down 90% of the time. Even my log ins aren't loading correctly most of the time, and I've tried it from three different devices. I've had to do a work around where I can log in through the 'track logistics" section of the site, but then the shops are still giving me errors. I noticed it yesterday too, but it's gotten worse.

Christmas high traffic? Or is it the new verification system they're putting in place?

Today these are worn for graduation ceremonies in Japan. They're actually a full kimono underneath hakama trousers. Not sure if the taobao link actually has that but is likely. A cheap one will likely look bad as it'll be that cheap "silky" material and no underlayers.

I used one of Yoybuy's 11$ off of 150$ coupons with my ~151$ order. One item wasn't arriving and delayed my order by over 2 weeks. I asked them to ask seller about it, turns out it was out of stock. Instead of refunding it, they deducted it from the coupon (since order total was now below 150$), so I got 20 cents back instead of 10$.

Is it worth bugging them about it or is that standard business practice?

unless you get honoka, rin, or kotori's, all the waistbands will bend and fold really easily. The reason why those three do not, is because their skirts are constructed like a high waist skirt instead of a detachable waistband, and have boning in them. I ordered all nine of them before for a group. If you're over 5'2" and have one of the long dress characters make sure to get at least size medium or it'll look too small (even if your other measurements fit). The waistband also runs a small; I was 5cm under the waist and bust measurements for size small, but the shirt was barely big enough and the waistband barely velcroed. Other girls who ordered and were within the measurements for the size couldn't get the waistband to close. So I'd recommend getting a size up.

Yea that's exactly the one I mean. They leave a heavily marked down invoice in your shippment options which is however not directly downloadable since it's a php page and not a .pdf document or something similar and I wonder, if they either stick it onto each package in a plastic bag or if they put it in the package itself.

The thing is I need to go to the customs bureau tomorrow morning and open up the package. If they added this marked down invoice to the package and the customs officers find it, then I'm gonna have a hard time explaining them why the shipping costs are missing. Right now I'm making a new invoice with looks almost similar to the php page but with an added shipping remark and hope that they'll believe me when I tell them that I got free shipping for "black friday".

I just got both cosplays in and I LOVE them. There's a lot of detail and thoughtfulness put into them, especially for the price. They even added a tattoo with my Maki cosplay - you can BARELY even see it on the card so I'm stoked that they paid such close attention to detail! They even added additional accessories and hardware pieces in case any fall off or get damaged.

The fabrics are beautiful and everything is pretty much as advertised. The head jewels for Kotori are kind of weird and I haven't figured them out yet, and the wings on the Maki costume need to have straps added or something for them to sit as high up as they are on the card, but they're absolutely perfect otherwise.

The fit is a liiiiiittle big on me. I opted for an M which they say fits an 80~87cm bust for the Kotori dancer costume. My bust is 84cm and the top completely falls down on me even on the tightest bra hook. I have to wear clear straps for it to stay up and keep my boobs covered. The hips are also a tad big on me. It says 74-82cm and my hips are 78cm. I usually get a M since I'm 166cm tall, but I wish I would have gotten an S this time. Maki's fits okay, just a bit loose in the waist and bust. My waist is smaller than their small size, so I expected that. Luckily the back has corset tying! I hope this isn't too blog-posty, I just want you to know that the measurements are a little generous.

The first time I ordered with them they weighed everything individually and just added the total weight of everything together without the box they were going to ship it in so I actually benefited a little. The forwarders will only combined things from 20 shops at a time for shipping. As long as they're just easy to get items (not custom or pre-order) I think you'd be fine. Try to buy your stuff from the smallest amount of shops as you can, like if you can get multiple items from one shop then do so. Just remember that the more shops you buy from the higher the chance is you might run into an issue which can be hard to handle yourself just depending on google translate. Also the chance of there being a large mismatch between items arrival time - which is important because the forwarder only gives you 20 free storage days per item. The rent per day is only a couple cents though.

I've made multiple large orders, and I had a couple issues using zhongshan but after a little stress I found google translate enough to resolve it. My large orders with the JCEX forwarder have all been fine though.

All in all, I don't consider SS viable outside of complicated orders or second hand. I've said this so much I feel like I'm shilling for buying direct.

BUT, don't do the large order now by yourself. CNY is about to start and it will fuck up everything and give you all the stress. Right after it will be backed up as hell too, so I'm not sure when I'd recommend doing it without an SS for the first time. March, maybe?

Depends on what your shipping rate is, since most SS and forwarders have different shipping discount levels. The cheapest is probably direct, and the first 1kg (which chunky shoes hits on it's own) is already 12-15 bucks. I was using taobaospree, and they refunded me 100%. The other anon who've said their SS won't refund them for the surface spell 2-month no-show shocked me. Taobaospree may be expensive, but when I have to use an SS I'm going to stick to them.

The most annoying part was that the lolita I bought for myself all came in, but every. single. time. Don't worry anon, I shop and do orders for 1-3 items a lot but I just use specific agents for these types of orders, ones that offer cheap shipping options like china post and only take a small percentage with no minimum percentage fees.
It's ok to buy 1 or 2 items and you won't get charged crazy for it if you've got an agent like I described above. I only have experience using my 2 and not super buy though so I wouldn't know what they go by, but if they go by the same it should be reasonable.
In future ahead of time read the terms of agents to compare which have minimum order fees to know which to use on big orders and which equal put to be worth it for small orders.
I would share mine but I don't want to happen to them what happened to buynosaur when they got out of hand with all the traffic going to them from here, sorry.

My packages have always gotten through NY customs 1-2 days, but this one's been stuck for 5 days. I'm paranoid since it's full of Overwatch items. I thought the only copyright things customs cared about were brand shoes and purses, but I'm sweating a little.

Anyone else in the USA have experience with customs taking longer than a day or two? Most of my things are birthday presents I was kinda depending on getting in time. How long did you wait?
