sad to see so much hate for the art of drag on here, especially considering that drag is not that different from cosplay. I've been a fan of lolita and drag for years now and there's always been some slight crossover, especially with oldschool gyaru, who the only people I see doing it these days are drag tributes to it. Hopefully the hate is just backlash to whatever's popular at the moment, but I encourage anyone to actually look into the history of drag, as it's incredibly interesting and has existed longer than a tv show.

I really dislike them too, for similar but different reasons. I'm a transgirl and I really don't like the association they have with transgendered people, especially since a lot of the ones I've met have claimed to be "under the trans umbrella". The few times I've told people I'm trans the haven't believed me at first because their idea of it is drag queens.

It's really damaging to the public perception. They're entertainers, it's not even sort of the same thing as dealing with dysphoria and getting actually treated for it. I understand how drag was back in the day, but it's very much a product of its time at this stage when we've long since progressed past needing it.

I get a lot of flack for this opinion from my LGBT friends for not being accepting, and my straight friends just tell me to chill out and that it doesn't matter.
