At her size, its most likely. She's made what's equivalent to a twin sized blanket and called it a shawl.

From doing a magicarp hat, all of that is well over 10 hours of work, and probably $20-30 of yarn. The price really is fair. Kinda want to see the bag

>>9709530
probably. The magicarp hat I mentioned was $10 shipping. If the bag is an actual bulb shape it probably weighed a few lbs and putting it all in a box can make the price go up. I had a package jump $10 in price for 1 inch of box over the cheaper price. May depend on state for that.

>>9709557
It can be much quicker if you're good and know what you're doing, following a pattern or doing detailed stuff can really add on though

This, I don't know why people are talking about the craftsmanship as if it's a really solid cosplay. If I build you a Porsche and sell it as a pickup truck, it's a shitty pickup truck regardless of how well it's built as something unrecognizable from its stated design.

>everything is double crochet, granny/mesh, bobble, or just a really fat chain stitch
>doesn't state the yarn brand or even what kind of yarn it is (so I'm betting its cheap acrylic from Michaels)
>any part sold individually at a craft fair might fetch $20-30 tops
$250 might be alright if this were specially commissioned in nicer yarn, as in she's going out of her way to design it for your character of choice just for you, but for a basic set made of $3 chunky acrylic that has been not only already worn but literally crawled hand and knee in a hayfield in, no. It really is a bad price.

Yes this is most definitely hand stitched, you can tell by the brim. This looks like a very high quality hat, judging by all of the materials. Looks like anon is a newbie ita who can't appreciate handicraft, or understand it apparently.

>>9720471 >>9720476 >>9720445
Another issue I found as I got into Lolita fashion is our expectations of how things "should be" in vintage style vs. the actual, historical features of things is different. With modern manufacturing we precieve the potential level of machine perfection to be the standard, but back in the old days things naturally had a much more handmade element. There was a degree of acceptable wankiness customers expected and if someone could make things in a way that hid that they were considered extra-ordinary designers. A lot of famous fashion houses today made their name by producing things back then that were considered unachievable, but with machines today is considered standard.

>> No.9720624

>>9720481
This, people seem to believe that all handmade is poor quality, most likely because they are buying cheap and then getting what they pay for. Skilled handmade is expensive cause those skills take time to learn.

>> No.9721434

>>9720792
You aren't wrong, it comes from people believing that simply because you make something it is worth more than things that are massed produced. So realistically it spans the spectrum. People make shitty handmade and sell it cause they think it's worthwhile, someone else sees it and goes I can do that and sells for less, shitty handmade across the board. Skilled handmade is worth the price but is overshadowed by shit more often. Yet people keep supporting the shitty makers over the good ones.
