Bf and I met through cosplay/cons, work on cosplay together (Props are his strong point and sewing is mine so it works out really well), and we both mutually have fun going to cons together.

I feel a lot of cosplayers are way too self absorbed into the hobby (or have little interest/skills outside it) and/or thots to really have good relationships. It makes me sad.

Been with my partner for nearly 9 years, I'm creative and he's not, so I make our stuff. As long as I don't make characters he actively hates, if I make something he'll wear it. Still have difficulty getting him to wear wigs, which I can't really blame him for since he has a large head circumference and anything not a drag wig gives him headaches, but it's a nice life. He doesn't come to cons with me though if he's not cosplaying with me, because he's finally figured out that that makes him my norm bag bitch, haha. For all that we've been through he's always tried to get us in to at least one big convention a year. He really helps out with carrying stuff for me if I need it and he's even started practicing some photography just to make things more convenient for our schedule and budgets. I liked cosplaying and crafting, but kept it pretty hidden. When I got my ex-boyfriend (while we were dating) to cosplay with me (as Kagami from KnB and myself as Momoi), he got a bunch of attention from girls at con and the meet up (back in like 2013) and cheated on me soon after. I remember it took a while for me to badger him into a cosplay that was really simple and comfortable and he played basketball so it fit well, but I'm super salty about it now.

He was kind of tentative, but was also willing to try and pay for materials if I'd help him make it. I was super stressed, but everything came out pretty good (and he helped sew a shirt).

Yeah, we went to one together and his friends go to conventions a lot. He just wasn't feeling it and mostly stayed in the gaming room. He was also really baffled by how expensive the Japanese candies and snacks were, since we get them for cheap at daiso, h mart, and mitsuwa.

I've been making cosplays for my boyfriend for two years. I never charge him for labor and rarely charge him for materials, I just do it because I want to cosplay with him.
