Alright, so some concerts have already happened and some are about to happen. Thoughts? Reactions? Was it worth it? Are you excited? Any good merch? Cosplayers? Anything noteworthy happen?

>> No.9929707

OP here. I'm going to the Austin concert this Sunday. I'm pretty excited. I wanted to go to that paint Miku thing but when they announced there would be a small number given out, yeah no. Anamanaguchi is supposed to be opening for our concert.

>> No.9930045

I went to an expo in NYC a few years ago and it was totally worth it, looking forward to friday.
I'll be spending about twenty hours variously on planes or sitting in the airport waiting for the next one because I couldn't afford a hotel room.

Anyone know something decent to do in Dallas for the day? I'm thinking about going to the zoo.

I rolled up at like 6 and ended up with picks of basically any seat because of that clusterfuck of a line scramble they did. I felt bad for people who showed up hours earlier than me and basically got put in the back of the new line.

Definitely show up early for merch though. Those lines never calmed down.

Yeah, figured I'd show up around door opening. Which was 6:30. Got into the place at 6:45ish, I would say there were still plenty of "good" seats until at least 7:15 or so. But I consider good to not be in the pit. I'm a "front row of the upper balcony" person. By 7:15 I'd say the pit area was only about half full. Which is still pretty decent because you'll always be behind the VIPs anyway. So if you really don't want any merch or anything, You're probably good at an hour and a half to two hours before for seating. If you want a light stick or anything before the show though, you're gonna be stuck in that line until 7:30 at least. If you show up 1-2 hours before, don't bother with the outdoor merch booth if they have one. It was pretty cleared out and the line was very long for the few things left.

I know that's not all entirely helpful, a large part of it was the Civic's inability to ask people to form a line in the direction they wanted and your venue may be more competent than that. I still find that a good chunk of people don't like to wait more than an hour before a show at least, so if you're there before that group of people, you'll likely have a decent spot.

I went to the LA one last friday with a few friends. I agree with >>9930048 , the stage design was pretty bland and the entrance and exits for each song seemed very lackluter, unlike last year where before and after every song wasnt just fade to black. Setlist for this year was also a lot of old songs with very few new ones; i thought that after last year they would maybe play more recent and more popular songs but was let down. A few choice songs saved this concert for us though. There were more cosplayers than last year's LA concert, which was nice, and my friend even got to hold someone's $2k+ Dollfie Miku for pictures which also made it worth it.

Things i wish they did better:
1.) More merch; by the time we got to the line, lots of stuff was sold out and only shirts remaiing were small or xxxl, which wasnt a problem for us since two of us were small azn grills.
2.) No line control for merch lines. Our group of 3 unknowngly cut due to lack of organization, we saved about 30 min time and barely made it to the start of the concert in time.

Pros: Lots of cosplayers, virutally no lines to actually get in the building because they were doing the bag checks at a pretty good speed, a couple good newer songs, and VIP front area was only $25 extra on top of the $180 front seats (better be quick though, they went fast).

Overall it'd say it was a good 6.5/10, would still go again, but will try to be faster about getting the VIP area tickets.

I did an unofficial one at... I think 2013 Fanime? It was a last-minute thing because Fanime's approval system s run like ass. It was cool, but it was definitely amateur - they were using the local indie theatre near the con center and there were no stage layouts

I was supposed to go to the pre-AX one in San Jose, but I didn't recognize ANY of the songs. God, it's been forever since the initial Vocaloid wave.
