I'm sure a majority of us know & appreciate MC Melody Doll, but I'm wondering if anyone else who likes lolita is into rap/trap/e.t.c?

Specifically, non j-pop/k-pop/e.t.c, I'm aware we all have our very broad tastes & interests outside of the fashion, and that not all of us listen to nothing but classical music and Malice Mizer, but lolitas who like "non-standard lolita music", what do YOU listen to?
Perhaps you're a sweet lolita who loves Pantera? A classic lolita obsessed with Snoop? A goth lolita who really likes Ke$ha?

I’m a sweet-classic lolita that listens to various subgenres of metal; mostly thrash, NWOBHM, groove, death, melodic death, metalcore, and math. The only subgenres I cannot get into is symphonic/operatic or black.

I also have a huge lady boner for new wave, dark wave, and shoegaze

I'm a classic and gothic lolita, and into goth country. Lonesome Wyatt in particular is a huge favorite of mine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZoaYTKX7O0 I basically consume and support everything he makes, including Those Poor Bastards https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhq55-zWXQA and his collaborations with Rachel Brooke, who I also love. I love all his Edgar Switchblade works too but that's less related to music.
And, I also love Sons of Perdition https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPNRERut4Dk among others.

Oh boy my favorite topic!!!!!!!!!

Sweet/old school here~ I listen to a large variety of music! I listen to a lot of math rock (from elephant gym to loma prieta to Tero Melos to TTNG), metal (mostly slam, sass, grindcore, metalcore, mallcore, mathcore; Sometimes I like powerviolence and death metal too. But I'm picky), French pop, emo, and surf rock.

My top five bands(+songs) right now are

Kind of off topic and very very salty but
>not all of us listen to nothing but classical music
I’ve actually never met another lolita who really listened to classical music and there are >50 active lolitas in my comm. The most common music tastes beside Jpop/Jrock/Kpop is mainstream pop, postpunk and metal. I once told a bunch of girls I was going to the opera with my parents and their reaction was “ugh, why?”

Fuck I'm anon before you and I love going to the opera. My first one was Faust at the San Diego Opera House when I was in middle school. Shits awesome, I don't understand people with limited taste. There is at least one song or sub genre to every genre that someone will like, and the amount of talent and work put into that stuff is phenomenal

Oh my lord, I'm >>9941416 and I love classical music and the opera. Attending a performance of Mozart's Requiem at least once in my lifetime is on my bucket list, actually.

Is your comm full of teenagers? Sounds like your comm is just a bit crappy, unfortunately.

Maybe it’s just my country, but most people here think of opera as being too loud and incomprehensible. It’s usually portrayed comedically as a bunch of fat people screaming at each other, and something that only old people are interested in. The latter does have some truth to it because at 25 I’m always one of the youngest people in the audience.

I’d like to organize a ballet meet because ballet seems more accessible and very lolita-appropriate, though I don’t think many people in my comm would be willing to spend the ticket prices. If I can drag even one person along I’ll consider it a success. Maybe an affordable production of The Nutcracker? It’s on a lot of prints...

Thanks anons, I feel a bit less salty now.

I wish you were in my comm. I couldn't get very many to come to my meet of the Dracula ballet because of the lack of interest in ballet, and the ticket price. But it was honestly the greatest performances I'd ever seen in my life.

I love the nutcracker but imo ballet isn’t that popular. I never see that much interest in this stuff, and I dunno if it’s much of a meet. It’s like going to a movie?

>> No.9941636

>>9941628
Movie meetups are relatively popular though, at least in comparison.
The lack of interest in ballet and classical concerts etc. might be because many lolitas these days gain interest in the fashion through weeby interests like anime and cosplay, which is unfortunate. It's not universal, but sadly common enough to make these things irrelevant in many comms.

Sometimes I feel like the only person who doesn't like MC Melody Doll. The first time she released a song it was funny, but it quickly felt cringey to me when it looked like she was taking the joke too seriously.

I only have a passing interest in rap/hip hop but her flow was really bad.

I am a classic/gothic lolita I adore Malice Mizer, they are what got me into lolita in the first place. It's weird that I even like Malice Mizer still because I don't even keep up with visual kei at all anymore and it doesn't align with any of my current music taste.

I like MC Melody Doll because it's funny. It's are parody songs and I love parodies when done right.

Otherwise, I listen to metal (mainly underground black metal "80 trash metal, but I also like things like Sabaton or Powerwolf for working out), classical music, epic music, "80 & "90 classics, extra mention for my love for Bruce Springsteen, I like Chinese songs from people like for example Namewee and the Chopsticks Bro's, (primary) female k-pop dance songs, rap songs that are still about something instead of bitches they fucked, money they have, and tits. I like parody songs like Weird All and some Epic Rapbattles of History.

I don't like music that comes over like your faking something serious or talking about something you don't know shit about just to get money and likes. Be serious on serious topics, or just have fun making a fun song. I also have a serious hate for metalcore. I think it's the only genre in metal I can't find a single song that is at least ok. I just think it sounds like shitty emo music. Even glam metal is better by far, and they have guys wearing pink pantherprinted spandex leggings. Sorry not sorry. At least I generally just ignore it's existence unless someones asks about music taste instead of going out of my way to hate on it, or someone forces me to listen to it.

I'm a gothic lolita. But I'm also a metalhead so I guess only the Chinese songs and K-pop are really "weird" lol.

i also have a hatred for metalcore, but it's not like i didn't like it at one point. after a while you realize it's the same breakdowns, same vocal styles, redundant lyrics, goddamn. i'm so snobby with music nowadays i feel like such a prick. i can't enjoy practically any metal cause most of it sounds "generic" to me. if it's not explicitly creative or progressive in some way it sounds no different to me than fucking cow farts.

and yet i still like kpop while shitting on pop music in general.
>be me
>WAAAAH POP MUSIC MAKES MY EARS BLEED WHY DO PEOPLE LIKE THIS
>still be me
>loves red velvet
>WAAAH THEYRE NUMBER TWENTY EIGHT IN AMERICA THEYRE TOO POP NOW

that shit sounds like straight up radio garb but the girls are so cute and i have a soft spot for kpop since i found it at a super young age. why am i like this?

I love Powerwolf and Sabaton for workouts and training maybe. Powerwolf their sound reminds me of an epic medieval warfight. Sabaton often has marching rythm and they often talk on that rythm instead of singing which reminds me of the shouting in training when greating and getting commands.

>>9942985
I never liked it. The grunts sound like an emo kid trying to grunt but failing, the music sounds like a pop musician trying to be edgy and making metal but not grasphing it at all. And the whole themes, lyrics and sound often just rieks of emo culture. I never met a metalhead who likes it, beside maybe one or two bands, and those who did like a few bands where generally not die hard metalheads but people who where chill enough and fit in the culture enough to be nice to have around in cafe and festivals.

I like K-pop because it's all so perfectly put together that it's almost machine work. Western pop music tries too hard to be real emotional music while wanting to appease to the majority and sing about popular media topics. It reeks of wanting to get likes, similar to those social media thought and prayer posts. I often feel Asian man don't sound as well with autotune as woman, which is why I prefer mainly female vocals, and the dance songs are super catchy. If it's commercial music, all it has to me is sounding good and K-pop hit's that mark because of their almost machine work perfectness in anything. They might train so hard they sometimes fall down and collapse under it, but it does pay off most defiantly. I really loved Ddu-Du-Ddu-Du from BlackPink, but the other songs on that album weren't catchy enough.

I'm snobby too. I have a wide taste in music in general terms of styles, but it has to be high quality and exactly what I'm looking for. For metal I often get back at the classics, or listen underground black. The underground has much more people who are passionate and make new stuff, try new things, etc.

I’m a metalhead that likes metalcore. Granted I mostly listen to bands like ATB which aren’t whiny (minus all of In Dreams and a few songs off of Dig Deep; they lost their rhythm guitarist to suicide so it makes sense). I do agree that overall the subgenres are utter garbage. It’s pretty rare to find a good “-core” band that doesn’t have the same sounding breakdowns and whiny lyrics.

Gothic- and Casual lolita here.
I enjoy going to the opera and to musicals, but I also spend a lot of time every year at metal festivals. I'm lucky that I have lolita friends who join me on both ends of my musical scale and who I can both mosh and read a libretto with.

One of my favorite, private pleasures is listening to music that is the completely opposite of my styling. For instance, if I'm all dressed in black AatP, I love to listen to the "Legally Blonde" musical, and when I'm wearing a cute, colorful Meta berry print, I enjoy blasting Myrkur or Eluveitie from my headphones.

Not feels thread related, so posting here but

Gunna go see seeyouspacecowboy, artorias, and meth. play in less than two weeks and I want to wear a coord to go ham in a mosh pit. Potentially an awful idea but also when will I ever get the chance to live my frilly hardcore life

I wear Gothic and Old School (Gothic & Sweet), interested in trying Classic.

I listen to mostly Symphonic Metal, other metal styles (not gonna name all of them yo) Classical/Opera and classic rock. And OST from films and games.
My favorite band is Therion, can't get enough of them desu.
But I also like: Draconian, Tristania, Within Temptation, Tarja, old Nightwish (when they still had Tarja), Rasputina, Metallica, Snowy Shaw, ACDC, Slipknot, Korn, Linkin Park. Richard Wagner opera's, Vivaldi, Dvorak, etc most old composers desu.
Final fantasy music and I have a slight obsession (still) with the soundtrack from Queen of the Damned.

I'm such a cliché lol.

im not a gyaru myself though I appreciate the style so please correct me if I'm mistaken...but originally Koda Kumi and Namie Amuro were very popular amongst that scene, right?

Although I don't think you can really classify 'gyaru music', especially considering there's rokku gyaru who were usually v-kei fans.
there's the obvious ones like black diamond and other idol groups...also I love parapara

I know tortoise, but while I think the music is enjoyable overall, it's just not something I listen to frequently. My music taste is all over the place, so sometimes I only like one artist in a specific genre and then never dig deeper.
I will check out your other recs in my last work hour now, I need something to distract me from the unbearable heat in my office.
Are there some more artists you'd recommend? As I said, I guess I don't know much about music, but I love to talk about it and I'd love to learn. I'm >>9942068 btw.

I learned to download albums to Spotify and create playlists with random songs reccomended to me so when a song I like comes up I save the album and will listen to it when I'm sick of listening to a playlist.
