this year there was also several t posing events at animenext. honestly I'm fine with meme cosplays, as long as theyre well made like any other cosplay, otherwise it just ends up looking doubly bad if the meme has already died out, which in the case of todays memes is pretty common

Disagreed. In general, society doesn't grow out of what's seen as childish hobbies, they grow up with them until the hobbies aren't seen as childish anymore. We saw this happen with video games and the previous generation. Video games, especially consoles, were new, so they were a hobby the younger generation picked up. As that generation grew up, they continued playing video games and now gaming is a hobby enjoyed by all ages. It used to be seen as a childish hobby, until the children doing it grew up and brought it with them. The same thing is happening with conventions. As an aside, conventions seem to become more enjoyable the older I get. I'm not 30 yet, but I'm getting to a comfortable enough financial position where I can attend conventions without packing people into hotels, being able to afford nice merch from the dealers' room, etc. Conventions wouldn't flourish the way they are without the older crowd supporting them with their larger paychecks, and I imagine they'll continue to include more and more of an age range as the old school con attendees grow up and continue their hobbies.

Sorry to tell you this but you're wrong. Most cons are run by people who enjoy this shit, who may have been or still are cosplayers themselves. They become business people as they become more involved with the con because they have to learn how to do it correctly, so you and your other kiddy friends can have fun without everything going to shit like Dashcon did; but that doesn't mean that they're complete outsiders.
Source: I'm friends with several people who run, organize, and participate in organizing conventions in my own country and abroad. Sorry if that grosses you out, consider maybe not going to cons anymore if it does.

I would like to contribute with a cosplay me and my friends did when we went as the Thot Patrol. (There were 6 of us)
Going in for the whole weekend in these cosplays was just so much fun.
Best part of it was seeing so many people smile when they see us.
There would actually be people that would go from the longest frown you've ever seen to laughing their ass off.

We're not planning on doing it next year, mostly because by that time the meme will have died off, but it does go to show that if you do it right it's rewarding to everyone.

That's why there are security checkpoints at cons. Anyone can bring a gun, you don't need scary black clothes to have a gun.

I've been to at least 2 cons now where I've seen thot patrol cosplays (Some of them weren't very good) but they're always getting crowded by people asking for pictures.
All I see now is just the usual /cgl/ hating popular shit because it's popular. Prove Me Wrong

I think they are fun, and can be cheap since most memes are simple. Theres a risk of doing a stale meme, but that shouldnt be a problem for people here at least.

Pic related, my cosplay for ax this year. It only cost me like 30 bucks, so it was worth it even though it didnt come out that great.

Honestly this kind of hits a bad note for me, cosplaying as memes is fine, but this is something millions of people can't even talk about today, nobody around me even uses the word war and everyone avoids the subject.
