Part of the problem is that most people don't know how to use positive reinforcement instead of "tough love" or "harsh concrit".

Instead of telling them they are wearing something you don't care for, tell them about coords you think are great. Don't even mention to them anything about their own coord, just point out examples of what you think are good instead. If they want to improve, they will.

Great is a bit too much. At most a safe coord I'd say. Just like >>9990889 said, some poof would help. The tights also don't match the off-white of the dress and the choker doesn't fit with the rest of the theme (I'm assuming it's a lady skelly). I can't see her hair but if it's just tied under the hat, I'd suggest making a more elaborated hairdo. It seems to have a nice texture, so she could work with that and make something more pompous to match the dress.

In any way, it's common to mistake black for instant goth, but this one is far from it. It's a very... Classical classic.

this. Perma itas are beyond hope, but they're typically rare and most perma itas leave the fashion after a couple years. Most people genuinely want to improve, but they don't understand that concrit in fashion can sometimes come off as mean, or they think any kind of advice is personal. It's really hard to tell someone that a dress doesn't fit their body shape/looks bad on them without them getting offended. But those people will leave quickly because they can't handle concrit or only joined for efame/asspats. People who join because they want to be part of a community rather than because they love the fashion often leave quickly, too. Those people tend to be the most ita.
Most people improve with time, and on their own terms. I never got legit concrit but I do think i've gotten a lot better, so yeah. While it's good to point people in the right direction, i find 90 percent of the community either get good or quit by themselves.

I get the cape is meant to seem royal but it looks out of place - if it were longer it'd evoke a more regal feeling but as is it looks cosplayish. Also, though queen elizabeth has been pictured wearing french hoods (or things that look similar, I'm not an expert unfortunately) slapping a lolita version of a french hood on this does not make look any better. For starters it's so damn tall it looks more like a kokoshnik. And again, it doesn't tie into the rather modern style of the dress! If it were smaller I could get behind this.

Apparently it was really nice in person. I asked someone who saw it in person and I trust their taste, and they said it was gorgeous and stunning IRL.
