You realize why we ditched tea for coffee here in the states? Because tea was a capitalist financial instrument wielded by the corrupt British Parliament and East India Company's Tax Act over which we had no say. Saying "fuck you" to tea on a cold December evening in Boston Harbor in 1773 was a turning point in our country's very foundation. Whatever our present faults, the "tea-ignorant society" you lament carry on a proud coffee-drinking tradition born of revolution and defiance of oppressive corporate rule.
