This is a lie.
Roast beef is literally peasant/bunker meat, it is awful. It's only purpose is being ridiculously cheap protein that requires no preparation time.
Roast beef & cheese are way too dry to eat with bread by themselves, unless you do stuff like add a bunch of oil or fry the bread, but at that point just make a burger instead, which you will enjoy much more. And the ratio of meat to bread will be off unless you use like 10 layers of roast beef, at which point you're just fucking around. And good cheese is completely wasted when paired with fucking roast beef of all things.
Meanwhile, a big mac is a genuinely tasty meal. It is savory, well seasoned, and provides an ample amount of meat. Sure, it may not compare to burgers we make at home, but steaks at a steakhouse usually suck compared to what we make at home. It's an acceptable meal away from home, which is the most important thing, and what this quote fails to grasp: the point of fast food is to avoid all preparation or for convenience. No shit, you can make a better meal if you make it at home. But if you're hungry and in the middle of nowhere, how the hell are you going to make a proper meal?

Another thing, remember to think about the quality of the ingredients not the ingrents themselves. If you get a burger from a fast food place the breads gonna be low quality and might have invis mold, the meats been mushed and squeezed and doused in chemicals and all the stuff has been frozen and sitting in plastic. If you buy whole grain brain, and meat and fresh vegetables and put together yourself itll be healthier and cheaper despite mostly having the same ingredients

A Big Mac meal is about $9.50 where I live.

How much roast beef, artisan bread, or good cheese can you get for $9.50?

I can get a 10oz baguette for $2.50 at the store, and roast beef from the deli, which is $13 a lb. So basically I can get a baguette and half a pound of roast beef for the cost of a big mac meal. The big mac meal is about 100 more calories though.
