If you read the study, you'll find that the researchers simply tracked people over a long period of time, and found that those who died during the study were more likely to eat fried potatoes. There is literally no evidence that says the fried potatoes were responsible for an increased risk of death, nor do the researchers claim that. It's much more likely that the people who died already had unhealthy diets and naturally they're going to eat tasty foods like fried potatoes.

Just more bullshit from the media. Never trust any news story about nutrition or disease research, or better yet don't trust the media at all.
