This happened to me back in high school:
>at friend's place for LAN party
>go out for dinner, decide on Subway
>girl behind the counter says hi and addresses me by name
>I have no clue who she is
>hesitantly say hello back
>she says "You don't know who I am, do you?"
>respond "No, I don't"
>she says "I'm in your social studies class. I sit next to you actually"
>have to awkwardly stand there and spend the next several minutes telling her how to make my sandwich

It was my birthday too, and it totally threw me for a loop considering how serious my anxiety was back in those days. Also she sat diagonally in front of me, not next to me, so all I ever saw was the back of her head. Can you blame me for not recognizing her?

Apparently a nearly identical incident took place when I was out with my dad and sister at roughly the same time in my life, but I have no memory of it.
