The best meal I've ever had was either a full Chinese dinner, one from a Macanese expat in the outer Toronto area, and one in Macau itself. Multitudes of dim sum, peking duck, and course after course of delicious Cantonese cuisine.

That or a Prime Rib meal in a north woods Wisconsin supper club, complete with soup, potato, a few brandy old fashioneds and smothered in onions and mushrooms.

I'm making a gumbo for my family tonight. I'm certain at least one of them will suggest letting it rest for hours or overnight, since they have this weird idea that leftovers somehow change in flavour.

How do I explain to them that fresh food is safer and better than food that's been sitting in a tupperware in the fridge for days?

I'm from Hong Kong, we do switch between Cantonese and English a lot, it's probably because the Cantonese word for it is just the English pronunciation with Chinese syllables...or the English acronym or abbreviation is easier to pronounce.
I personally don't like it and try to avoid it, but my friends do that a lot.

And seriously, fuck the French. I have friends who works at the airport at it's always the French people who complain when the domestic flight in China don't have a French speaking crew.

One thing about these American "republicans" I find particularily amusing is their insistence on their right to everything they get on the mercies of their "gubmint", and their society at large, as something "earned by their own work". I suppose lacking education, sociopathy and delusions of grandeur are civil liberties, though. On the other hand, I'd prefer to treat it as a mental illness. Anyone thinking themselves deserving to be a "free self-made man" is just another retard with no concept of society in dire need of re-education and medication.
