Id just like to give my endorsement to a new steak I discovered.

I was short on money. I shop at a retail cooperative called Shur Fine. I wanted some sort of steak.

I found something that was well over a pound, a porterhouse. But it was starting to look a litter rough. Im new to cooking, but it was a deal at only $5.30

I am no steak expert and new to cooking. So I cant give expert opinion, just mine.

I was cautious because it was from Mexico. On one hand, I dont know what their standards are, but on the other, I know they are true cowboys all over Latin America and know beef.

The brand was called Sukarne, which I think sort of means 'your meat".

Anyways, I just wanted to report that it was just fine; very good in fact. It was the biggest steak I ever personally cooked. I am assuming thats why it seemed lighter in color when done to medium (by accident, the light color was confusing me, I was shooting for rare)

So just a vote of confidence for Sukarne if you see it. Was it light after cooking from being so big and thick? I use gas. I thought maybe it was too big for my tools and experience. It tasted fine, it was just odd to see steak light like that. It was fine before it went in, so I assume it was something I did or didnt do regarding heat. I did sear both sides a bit, used some olive oil and seasoning.

I always wanna share pics of my food but never wanna take the time and let it get cold, and never think about it till much later.

Anyways, Mexi-beef seems alright, Sukarne that is. Good deal too.
