I love his recipes, but my gf pointed out how his voice gets louder in the middle of his sentences and then trails off, and now I can't ignore it. Fuck can we get somebody else to do voiceovers?? I seriously feel nauseous just listening to his demonic voice.

What's your opinion on Chef John from Food Wishes dot com?

In this thread, we will decide who is the current /cK/ang of /ck/.

I'll start: see pic (pic related).
Okay, that settles it I guess.

1. watch Chef John vids until you find something that looks easy and appetizing. (assuming you're a westerner, particularly American). I recommend Chef John because his vids are entertaining and oddly comfy while not being showy or attention whoring in the camera so you'll have a decent times poking through them.
2. make sure you actually have the equipment necessary to make the recipe (assuming you have a stocked kitchen you probably do.)
3. pick something simple (maybe his grilled cheese, Persian rice or macaroni recipe) and make it. and check the blog post for ingredients

miscellany tips:
-you will most likely fuck something up. take note of the fuck up and develop a plan to avoid it next time
-you will occasionally run across a recipe that breezes past a step you're not sure how to do. eg "finely chop two onions", "deglaze with white wine", "julienne a carrot." just look the step up on YouTube. there are YT tutorials on almost every conceivable topic
-disregard Italian commenters telling everyone they are cooking pasta wrong
