If you want to get technical you're both wrong and so is mayo guy. You only should put oil and vinegar on it.

There's a local farmer's market where some vendors sell burgers with these ingredients except for just 1, 1/2 lb patty instead of 2, 1/4 lb ones. It's the best burger I've ever had in my life.

Local, grass fed organic beef patties, 80/20, never frozen.
Local, organic lettuce.
Kraft American cheese. It melts better than any other cheese and is simply good. This is a thoughtfully prepared, but not pretentious burger.
Homemade pickled thick cut cucumber slices made from organic, local cucumbers.
Organic, local onions.
Homemade brioche buns.

You will never have a more pure burger experience in your life.
