have you ever had a real brioche? but it fucking sucks as a burger bun because its not sturdy enough.
kaiser roll is the ideal burger bun

i'm firmly in the medium camp
medium thickness
cooked to medium
kaiser roll
ketchup/mustard
pickles on the bottom
this next part is important
slice of cheddar touching the burger
bacon touching the cheese
tomato touching bacon

Kaiser rolls are so much better for burgers because they hold together and can soak up some the grease
brioche smush apart upon the first bite and by halfway through they sog out

that burger is all wrong the tomato and onion are to thick, the bacon should be touching the cheese and the tomato should be touching the bacon

do not make your burgers that thick
if you use tomatoes or onions cut them very thin
if using tomatoes, bacon and cheese the cheese should touch the meat, the bacon should touch the cheese and the tomato should touch the bacon, the saltiness bacon activates the flavors of the cheese and tomato

get better tomatoes and make sure it's toughing a salty piece of bacon to set the flavors off and the lettuce gives it a nice crispy texture

the point of a hamburger is that you can pick it up and eat it with it falling apart and wearing half of it on your face.

1/3 lbs of 73/27 beef on a lightly toasted kaiser roll, set up like this (top to bottom)

>top bun
>mayo
>iceberg lettuce
>thinly slice onion
> one thin tomato slice
>two slices of oven baked bacon that's just reaching the crispy stage
> quality deli American cheese (not plastic kraft singles)
>1/3 lbs of 73/27 ground beef made into a flat patty (NO smash burgers of meatballs)
>3 or 4 thin pickles
>ketchup and yellow mustard
>bottom bun

Any other setup is a deviation from a proper burger which is fine as long as you acknowledge what sets the standard of what is to be expected when you say hamburger.

virtue signalling their elitism
> What me eat normal food that millions of people have enjoyed for hundreds of years...poppycock
everybody has turned into hipster memefags and finding normal food has become near impossible because of it. You can't get a normal burger anymore, no it has to have 3 patties made of buffalo meat , carmlized onions, blue cheese and peanutbutter. Want a normal pepperoni pizza NO it has to be cooked in brick oven at 800 degrees and use goat milk cheese and have shrimp and kabab meat for toppings and white gravy for sauce. Shits out of control

it's a good roll for a burger, it's not to soft and retains its shape so it doesn't smash down, it's dry enough to soak up the juices and grease and they taste good but are neutral enough to not overpower the flavor of the burger, bacon and cheese. Plus they're not a dense bread so you don't get bogged down on a ton of bread. Not to mention they are big enough to put a proper size burger on without having a 1/2 inch of burger sticking out all sides
