It is pathetic when all you have to look forward to is work.
It is pathetic when you burn both ends of the wick making people happy and get nothing back.
It is pathetic to raise your children to such a higher standard than yourself that they treat you like you are born on another planet.
It is pathetic to want friends but can't find any.
It is pathetic when your last hobby is cooking because everything else was taken from you.
It is pathetic when you cry in your car alone on the commute home every night.

The most pathetic thing though, is drinking because you don't want to live anymore. Knowing that despite all the people around you, you are alone. Knowing that a father that left when you were a child was the last person that knew similar struggles, and that when he died he abandoned you again one last time. Its pathetic to wish you could get drunk with him one last time watching a western.
