Some ideas for how to make /ck/ great again:
1. Get the mods to spend less time deleting joke replies and more time deleting shit threads. 1 shitpost as a reply only potentially prevents 1 quality post in the same thread while 1 shitpost as a thread may push off 200 posts of quality discussion.
2. Allow threads about youtube cooking channels, as long as the discussion is still about the cooking and not about peoples personal lives or such. If we're allowed to discuss Gordon Ramsay, I don't see why Ja/ck/ threads are banned. It's clearly cooking related. Confining the discussion to a single thread at a time would be sufficient.
3. Begin making a cooking guide as a community collaboration. We should have a sticky like /fit/'s, or a wiki like /g/.
4. Hire more janitors whose only job is to make fun of people posting in fast food and ramen threads so they'll hopefully learn how to cook.

(T) - Next but certainly not least, Jack Scalfani! His Youtube channel has reached millions and provides homely recipes that are quick and easy!
>Jack Scalfani (J) - I consider myself a visionary, truly one with the masses. All these fancy chefs with their thermometers and recipes don't understand that food comes from the heart. I run a Youtube channel where I teach everyday people make everyday meals. We got the poor man, fat man kinda recipes where their filling but not hard to follow. I know I'll win because I know the judges want food the artist not the line cook has created.

Thanks for the tip senpai. I'll check them out.

Just please tell me you agree with this... Chipolte is garbage compared to Chipolte. The way I see it, there's not excuse to go to Chipolte over Anna's if those are your options. R-right?

>none of the requirements are more than tangentially related to actual cooking
I'd say that's an accurate assessment of a typical "true /ck/er".

10 random abilities one must have for being a good cook:
1. Making a sauce hollandaise the traditional way without scrambling the egg yolk or breaking the sauce when adding butter.
2. Making good veal or beef stock.
3. Knowing the difference between roasting and braising.
4. Knowing the ideal internal temperatures for beef, pork, chicken and fish without having to look them up.
5. Making a decent French omelette (almond shaped, no browning, as soft as possible).
6. Making a sugar syrup of appropriate stage (thread, soft ball, hard ball etc.) without a candy thermometer and without crystallizing it.
7. Being able to write a working recipe for 500 grams of lean, medium hydration bread dough without looking anything up.
8. Making a good ragu bolognese (ground beef in tomato soup doesn't count).
9. Filleting a whole fish.
10. Making a puff pastry sheet by hand.

How many did you get?
>0-3: average cu/ck/
>4-6: enthusiastic amateur
>7-9: culinary school student
>10: King Ja/ck/
