Living on all carbs will be damaging eventually. He needs to throw in some canned meat, or go asian and consume eggs with pasta or rice. You can consume rice, beans, chorizo, eggs, and milk together to make it through bad times and it's dirt goddamn cheap for insane calories and protein.
