Why the fuck do people drink alcohol? I got some merlot for Christmas and it's the first time I've ever drank alcohol.

>Pour it into a correctly shaped glass and give it a few minutes to set
>Swirl and smell it (doesn't smell bad tbqh, can smell the grapes)
>Actually drink some and its better as fuck

What the fuck is the point of this stuff? It doesn't taste good. Is it literally "oh look it gets me drunk lol" is the only reason people drink this crap?
