I visited America (the land of the free) for the first time back in april.
Went to a grocery store, and it had like 30 small checkouts with one worker at each station, who packed the groceries in front of you will they scanned them.
The fucking weirdest set up. The store wasn't even big (I was in Jew York). Yet had 30 people working just in the checkout. Where I'm from like 6 is enough for a store that is 2-3 times bigger.

Is this normal or just a NY thing? Also, they all waved numbered signs every time their checkout was free.
