Wondering how long this would go on before somebody brought up Irish whiskeys. Personally I love Jameson. So smooth, I can see how you feel it is syrup-y. Teeling's is for pompous fools, Bushmills is a little peaty for a whiskey for me. Try Powers for a more mild Jameson and worse hangover. Personally the best I've had was Kilbeggan's.
