To answer your question; my mother doesn't like my cooking because it isn't just boiled and unseasoned chicken and potatoes.
I grew up eating exactly like pic related except for the butter. She prefers margarine.

It was always my father cooking in our house and he wasn't very good at it.
My mother did the baking, which was excellent, and she was able to make meatballs or lasagna if Father was working nights.

Most days we ate like pic related. Except we had margarine instead of expensive butter, of course.
