you're right and wrong. it IS a religion, that's correct. we can see people defending their set of beliefs regarding social justice that are rooted in communism the same way people defend their religious dogma. it's exactly the same.

the major difference is that communism places the state as the alpha and the omega. the problem with this is that the state/government is a human creation, and humans are inherently flawed, thus any ideology they create will be inherently flawed.

god is esoteric so it can't really be quantified. it's an abstract idea so it's more difficult for people to corrupt (i'm arguing on the grounds that god and religion are different; religion being man-made, god being abstract "always has been always will be").
