When Gordon is lecturing these lazy chefs, he showcases all the qualities of a leader. He's commanding, with a loud yet direct voice. He explains how he isn't directing blame at the chefs, but shows them how they are related to the issue. Simple terms to make them follow and listen him - a trait that only someone who is truly confident can do.
Gordon's confidence not only as a person but with his cooking skills is what makes him far beyond a hack. I think we are so overexposed to all the silly tv shit he does that it's easy to slap a label on him, but he is without a doubt one of the top 10 chefs in the world in terms of brand and ability.
