i don't know if this is irrelevant or not since it doesn't directly deal with the food aspect of OP's post, but i can't imagine working in a place like that, overseeing the animals.

supply and demand aside, how could you go back every day? surely they're noisy, since confined animals tend to develop psychosis.... dozens, if not hundreds, of shivering, fidgeting, screaming animals ramming themselves against the sides of their pens.. are they just ignored for the most part, or sedated?

does anyone on /ck/ work in a slaughterhouse, or an industrial holding area for sows, cows or chickens?
