The thing in the pic is "torta di ceci", a dough made with chickpeas flour from Tuscany. A quick and cheap street food

There are various types of polenta it depends on your taste.
Generally polenta is meant to be a carb base, it was the "pasta" of northen italy

Pic is "polenta concia", polenta drowned in butter and various cheeses. It's not an everyday dish (at least it shouldn't), it's generally eaten in company

It's a traditional poor dish from the mountains region of northen italy.
The dish is basically polenta and butter, it was meant to high in fat and calories for the cold winter when there wasn't so much food
