Most expensive meal in general:
I went to one of Marco Pierre White's restaurants in a posh hotel in the UK. I think the main dish I had was a filet mignon and my appetizer was beef carpaccio. I had some wine as well even though I was underage at the time. Must have cost over £150.
Most I've personally paid for:
My friend and I went to a random steakhouse during Christmas break after we got a little too drunk at a bar earlier in the night. I think my bill was something like $100 CAD.

OP, this is why wagecucks remain wagecucks, and since you're poasting this receipt here i assume you're a wagecuck in his mid-to-late 20's, and not someone who is wealthy or owns his own business. i speak from experience, as i used to be a wagecuck and would *waste* on average around $60-120 per dinner on thurs-saturday nights, either trying to relax or to impress some girl who probably would've fucked me anyway if we had gone out for something more low-key like a $9 burger and a couple beers. having said that, you've already spent it, and if you enjoyed it, then take solace in the fact that moments are to be enjoyed. don't live with regret. if you didn't enjoy it, and if you don't want to spend that much per meal ever again, then don't do it. when you go out to eat you're really paying mostly for the service and for eating in a social environment at that venue. if you wanted to eat just for raw nutritional benefit, you wouldn't've been a consuemrist fag and gone out at some mid-to-high-tier fancy restaurant. you buy this shit because you want to feel like your work and your status in life has earned you this level of consumption. but if you aren't also saving and investing, you'll be caught in this work-then-consume-to-show-my-status cycle forever, until death.

ate at Next in Chicago a few nights ago. here's how much it cost for 3 people with the wine pairing (which, as is usual with these tastings, is way too much white wine, not enough red). still a pretty spectacular meal. my only other criticism is that they did this whole spectacular feast with ice sculptures, this gorgeous spread of seafood, pigeon en croute, black truffle studded chicken, but then kinda phoned in the dessert course.

Around $160 for some fantastic dim sum at yank sing in SF for two people and one person who was weird about trying anything. So like.. 80 bucks each. Definitely worth it but I normally spend like 6 dollars for (significantly less) dim sum I buy from a little market. It's kind of hard to justify the huge price difference but the quality is not even comparable between the two so it works out.

anon, the reason wine pairings for tasting menus skew white is because most reds will overpower most light foods. generally there's only one or two actually heavy dishes in a tasting menu. i'd rather have appropriate wines with my food, and those will generally be whites at most fine dining places with all courses but meat.

no, they just don't want to spend $20+ to get out of the city to find something cheaper.

They'd rather just spend the $30-40 increase for being in NYC and not bother with getting out of town.

It's all about location, and unless you're gonna spend an hour+ and $20+ in tolls, you're not getting out of the city to a cheaper restaurant.
