I'm going to drink vodka for the next 3 hours and try to stay awake so that I can deposit 3 months worth of checks from work and have enough money and time to try Taco Bell breakfast, then go home and pass out until whenever. I don't cook on my days off.

A chicken, onion, and soy sauce stir-fry served over white rice. Was pretty good, managed to hit the sweet spot with the chicken where it wasn't overcooked on the first try.
I'm just getting in to cooking, a large part of my joy today came with cooking this recipe.

Thanks to whoever wished me well last thread, I'm feeling a lot better.
Today I made a flank steak with a teriyaki marinade. The flank was thicker then what I'm used to, so its a little on the rare side. But whatever, it was still tasty.

I made bastardized risotto.

>leeks, garlic, carrots sliced thin
>cook in butter for a few mins
>add rinsed arborio rice
>few mins later add stock (and so on as appropriate)
>cook chicken crispy, shred it
>sauté mushrooms
>add together
>add some mozzarella
>seasoned throughout with s&p, thyme, rosemary, paprika, little curry powder, red pepper flakes

It was good.

After several failed attempts at baking cod, I tried frying it as I would a katsu. Surprisingly, it was my best yet. I have only started to learn how to cook fish but so far it has been very enjoyable.
I only have a few pieces left. What recipe should I try?

Alternate layers of coarse salt and pieces of raw cod in a bowl or other container, cover the fish entirely at the end. Leave in fridge for at least a week and up to several months.
Take out as many pieces of fish as you want and put it in cold water in the fridge for a day. If they're big pieces you may want to change the water halfway through. Use plenty of water, not just a little bit.
Put the fish in boiling water. It will cook in just a few minutes. It will be delicious and salty and flaky.
Serve with potatoes, fried diced bacon, and a basic white sauce with a little bowl of mustard powder and water on the side. Mix as much mustard water as you want into the sauce on your plate.
Have beer on hand because you'll be drinking a lot of it throughout the night.

I made the oven fries recipe from Achewood to go with some burgs. Cut some shitty Chinese Holland potatoes into wedges, seasoned them with oil, salt, pepper and a hit of honey, then baked them twice: 30 minutes at 200°C and another 10 at 250°C.

Motherfuck, it's on the same level as learning that I can brine chicken breasts. They're crispy on the outside, yet creamy and runny on the inside. I'll never eat bagged wedges again.

I am going to go rabbit shooting on a friends farm, then when I get home I am going to cook rabbit vindaloo.

I know a lot of people age their meat or whatever, but I’ve never seen the point in that. It just makes the meat older and more rotten.

Net loss of what?

Rabbit backstrap wrapped in bacon grilled to perfection is delicious. Perfect with a side of greens. There is no loss of enjoyment there.

Diced rabbit is also a nice meaty addition to chinese-style fried rice.

I just shot four big rabbits so now i am going to prepare my rabbit vindaloo. Trying this new recipe.

What you're forgetting is whether or not those calories are digestible by humans. Take a field of grass. Plenty of calories there, but humans can't digest it. But a rabbit can convert those calories into ones we CAN digest. Yes, there's a net loss of calories, but it's moot because the starting calories were useless to us anyway.

For that matter all living things are a net loss of calories. Even plants. But again, plants are capable of converting nutrients from the dirt and energy from the sun into some form that we can benefit from. Are you proposing that we should stop eating plants because they too are a net loss of calories?

Chicken hearts are an extremely underrated foodstuff.
>huge amounts of valuable nutrients that are underrepresented in the most diets (Vitamin E, CoQ10, phospholipids, and more)
>flavorful, hearty (heh) taste
>incredibly cheap compared to more common meats (I got 2 pounds of these for $1.89 at the grocery store yesterday)

Alright bright boy, let's see you make a roulade from beef trimmings. Or do you just throw away red meat? Next time I'll trim more fat off though, I thought more would render off the exterior.

Nice quads btw.

How much from scratch are you going? Are you going to use a solid pan? Do you have a springform pan?

It's getting late here so I can't really stay up to help you, but crushing a bunch of graham crackers with the right proportion with brown sugar and butter pressed into a springform with your cheesecake took me a few tries and it's been a couple years since I've done it, but it yields a free-standing perfect cheesecake.

First I was considering Kraft's no-bake recipe with their philadelphia cream cheese as it seems easy for a first try, but now I have found another recipe provided by a local supermarket which does involve baking and I would show it here if only it were in English.

Thanks a lot for the tips btw fren

I made creme anglaise, I thought I would fuck it up but it ended up being pretty easy, so I don't have any pastries to put it on. I might spoon it over vanilla ice cream with some cracked pepper, I generally like the combo and I feel like a little of this would be a decent sauce to add a small something extra. I don't own an icecream scoop so I probably won't post a picture of that because it will look like garbage. Here's the custard though.

I trriedd my hand at homemade pizza for the first time today and it went really well, if I do say so myself. I found a really good recipe for the dough (500g flour, 300ml water, 5 (yes, just five)g natural fresh yeast, two tsp salt, knead for 20 minutes, let sit and rise for eight hours) and heated mmy oven to nucclear temps. It tastes as good as any pizza I have ever eaten in a restaurant.

Made some beef curry today, turned out pretty good considering I normally do chicken. Browned some stew meat with some flower and salt/pepper and put in potato, onion, and carrot and the curry spices. Its pretty basic, but I have also been on the road for my job the last month and the first time I have been able to cook for myself in a longass time. I missed it.
