When they first came out, they were pretty "fancy" and upper class. It's a bit more ubiquitous now but I would say it's definitely still a middle/upper class thing; the cost of the pods add up too. Most poor families have the same drip coffee pot they've had for years and use Folgers or other cheaper brands (which aren't always that bad.)

I have. I have one sitting in the kitchen right now that my grandma swears is the best way to make coffee. I try it, and it just tastes stale and wrong. So I made sure it was clean, got some higher quality pods, and what do you know, it still tasted like shit.
Dunkin Donuts is fine when you get those giant iced coffees with flavor shots, and is probably fine normal for most people.

I don't really judge other people for what they use, it's when they get all uppity about it that it's annoying. The coffee has about one price point, around a $100, so no they aren't the same price, but they're at the midrange drip prices.

The point of a keurig is that in a communal area, like an office, you have a clean ready to use machine. No dirty pot to wash. No burned smells from overwarmed coffee. No gross soap residue if your sink doesn't give you hot water for cleaning a pot. No people pouring dirty pot water into the water reservoir. If you infrequently make coffee, your kcups can be kept in your desk and you only make what you want to make, even weeks between a mood, and the coffee isn't exposed to air nor stolen or the lid left open. By communal places, this might be a house too. A more expensive nespresso would at least have pressure simulating a espresso, but it's more proprietary pods, and more cost per cup.

That's not saying k-cups aren't premium, but people who want to vary between offering a soup, a cider, a hot chocolate, a hazelnut and a french roast are covered per their mood. This also let you travel and throw a couple cups in your luggage and know you're covered upon waking.

Downsides: watery coffee unless doing a dark roast. Plastic disposable cups wasteful and not recycled. Even pods you refill with your own freshly ground single estate beans will not have the right time on the beans, or ratio of richness to wateryness.

Fresh milk is sweet, but cream loses the lactose so it's like fruit without sugar. It's nowhere near as sweet as actual white sugar.
