Most models heat from the floor and circulate evenly throughout. There's a separate heating unit in the top for broiling, but modern ovens usually don't permit or use both at the same time unless you're using the "self-cleaning" feature.

That one was actually one of the few piece of shit, as seen on tv, dumb things I've bought. It's just a broiler coil on a spinning plate, which works on all frozen foods from mozzarella sticks to tater tots. The "air fryer" (small convection oven) is alright to, along with toaster ovens.
