Different sorts of liquor are distilled via different methods depending on the finished goal.

Whiskey, for example, is traditionally made with a pot still. That is a very inefficinent design which retains a great deal of the flavor from the mash. On the other hand Vodka is distilled multiple times and/or with a reflux still which has the exact opposite goal.

I had it once, it was on my birthday even. It was late at night and I was young, 19ish, at a friends, and we were like "fuck it, lets get something we can find and drink it". We found the cactus jack. It was so fucking bad dude, we drank it straight. It was like tasting mouthfuls of liquidy raw meat that was slightly rotten. I don't know if it's the bottle we had or just cactus jack in general, but it's so fucking bad dude. I doubt even if you drank it with some coke or whatever that it would cover the taste. I've had my fair share of bottom tier drinks in my day, but cactus jack is the king of horrendous drinks.

The shit is literally explosive, if you soak a paper towel with it and light it on fire the whole thing goes up in flames but you can watch it burn without touching the paper until the alcohol burns out. It actually causes chemical burns to your mouth and throat, usually not too serious because most people stop after the first shot. Baijou, Korean soju's big brother from China. I actually like it but I'm a minority- and if you don't like it god help you. It has a dry savoury quality that means a shot can ruin half a literrible of coke. I tried using it as a dry vermouth with some success, it's OK with marachino but I never got further.
Laolao from Laos is related, but sweet due to under fermentation and weak decanting, has methanol but is usable as white rum

Rakkia (serbian)/Palinka (mix type)/ chacha (georgian)
I'm putting them together because there isn't much difference.

You CAN get nice plum palinka, and some aged Georgian chacha is nice
