I moved and for the first time ever I am near a popeyes.

I gotta say, I’m disappointed.
And I didn't go in expecting much, but some of you really drone on about how good it is and how much better than KFC it is (its not, they're both equally mediocre)

I mean, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either.

Generic grocery store fried chicken is far superior... and that is a bad thing.

Their chicken is objectively Superior to KFC. But the spread on quality is high. The worst franchise in town will barely qualify as food. The best one will be better than most sit down restaurants.

Also red beans and rice is the only side.

Yes, any fried chicken that isn't cooked to order is bad. Then again I had some popeyes at the Philadelphia airport and it was bangin' despite being 99% grease.

I finally had it last week since we got one a few towns over awhile ago (I'm in Canada so we have fewer anyways). Had the popcorn shrimp with a biscuit and, mac and cheese. Also had one of their strawberry and cream cheese mini baked pies (had a coupon for a free one). Shit was pretty great. Definitely going again.

Actually had some fresh Popeyes yesterday. The grease was still hot enough to burn my fingers. Shit was delicious.

If you have time to kill, order the nugget combo. It's basically tenders cut into 3-4 pieces then fried so you get more crispy breading. The best part about it is, at least at any Popeye's I've been to, is that they don't keep the nuggets in the warming trays, they only make them to order. It takes like 10-15 minutes most of the time but god damn they are good fresh. I actually stopped by Popeye's today on my way to work, but just got the tender combo since I was in a rush. It was pretty disappointing because it was noticeably old.
