What? There are different types of red skinned potatoes with very different properties. Both roasting and mashing varieties. There's no single "best" potato for every purpose, and there's no single "red skinned" potato.

but with fucking potatoes, it's just like rice or pasta or any other bland carb, you have to majorly mix them with other stuff to make them taste nice, and that point you may as well just eat the stuff that tastes nice with other stuff that tastes nice

Don't you like french fries though? Ur being a little hard on potatoes imo. Comparing them to pasta is unfair. Pasta has almost no flavor at all. Potatoes while somewhat one dimensional have a unique flavor profile depending on the potato. Furthermore, its skin gives it a flexibility that other carbs don't have if you use a little technique. Honestly look no further than the baked potato, it only really needs salt, pepper and butter. Again, I don't wanna be a fatass so I rarely have one but I'm not gonna hate on a such a noble vegetable either.
