Fruit has been bred to be as sweet as possible. It's biological candy.

Grapes and pineapples are junk food IMO. Use in moderation.

Produce and meats where I am are triple what they cost in the states so I'm eating a lot of carbs and dried proteins. It's possible and when I'm not a depressed piece of garbage one day I'll have garden and starting canning my yields.

I haven't made a thread or anything. I probably won't but I'm a guy living on welfare, discovering how to live not just survive.

The most interesting part so far I've noticed is that since I don't work every minute of every day is mine. I can make my own bread everyday. I have the time to go shopping for clearance items. I have the time to trade things with other people (facebook/bunz).

Life becomes humble and all stress melts away. I think I'm going to start volunteering somewhere I feel like I'm making a difference just to combat the feeling of worthlessness that I didn't account for. Strangely it's almost as bad as the feeling when you hate your job and you feel stuck.

tldr: yes

Just buy what's healthy that's marked down / on sale. What is so hard about this? Unless you're blind or all produce is significantly cheaper in california, I don't see how this is so complicated for a lot of people.

Incorrect. Wild fruit has the same average sugar content as domesticated fruit, sometimes higher.

the person in that image isn't using their thinking brain.

nuts are expensive, but they kind of make up for it by being calorie dense. everything else bought is arguably not in season and also entirely fruit (minus the soda), which isn't bad but probably isn't nutritionally complete nor completely satisfying.

The key to eating healthy on the cheap is to eat the seasons, and to actually pay attention to when you're shopping. Carrots tend to be cheap always, same as celery. For fruit, apples and oranges tend to be cheaper and always available (depending on where you live of course, and they will likely always be cheaper when they are in season).

Getting foods that are less prepared tends to be cheaper as well, compare a whole chicken to chicken breast to tendies, it's cheaper to buy the whole chicken and prepare it all yourself (but who wants to do that right)

Eating healthy can be cheap, definitely. It's not as easy as stuffing your face full of garbage and hoping for the best though (nutritionally speaking).

that soft drink is empty calories and berries are a scam. They're not filling and they go bad way faster than apples, grapes, oranges, or nectarines.

Eating healthy and buying from a grocery store are so much cheaper once you do the math on how much a meal from McDonalds costs vs buying a loaf of bread, ground beef, tomatoes, pickles, onions, and cheese from the local store.

The issue is TIME. Poor people hustling from one job to the next don't have the time to cook and become good at it. But eating healthy is way cheaper.

So 5 buxs each of the fruit, (20) and 10 for the small bottle of pop?

I would guess 2 for the pop.
3 each for the grapes
5 each for the pineapple and berrys
That's still only 18. Can someone stateside tell me how?

Plus these are snacks.

I got someone stopping for dinner today but was planning on using up my left over spaghettibolg meat.
I chopped up a red pepper, onion, garlic, celery and sweed to bulk it out. Chunk in a tin of beans and tomatoes and its going to cost about £2 to bulk out my left overs. Put in about £1 worth of rice and you got enough food for 3 people.
