They're not even that traditional. Baked beans originated in New England and Quebec (possibly influenced by the French cassoulet and similar dishes from the Channel Islands), and Brits have no real tradition of them aside from the canned form, which was introduced from America in the late 1800s. Before Heinz opened their first U.K. factory in the 1920s, they were an expensive import, not a staple, and they didn't become a "standard" part of Full English until sometime around the late '60s.

Porridges made from whole grain flours just look like slop, but they can be pretty tasty when made properly to the right thickness and served with the right toppings. The sausages, and especially the puddings, were seasonal items until refrigeration. Black puddings would have been available maybe two months out of the year (from slaughtering time in November through the Christmas season). Meat was also expensive and most working class families, with the exception of farmers, could never have justified bacon+sausage+puddings at breakfast anyway.

Besides which, a hearty breakfast for a manual laborer should be carb-heavy. It should certainly have plenty of protein as well, but the carbs should predominate. The protein-heavy full English we know today originated with the middle class in the nineteenth century and evolved into its present form in the 20th. It's been defined more by hotels than what anyone ever did at home in the past.

An All American Breakfast contains a good combination of carbs, protein, and fat. Carbs are not bad on their own insofar as they provide good short term energy.
