What's funny/sad is that many millennial will blame their lack of basic cooking skills on their education. I see posts every week on Facebook from dumbass high school friends who share shit like "America should have mandatory life skills classes where they teach you how to cook and do laundry and pay bills".

God damn, so many people are just completely detached from reality and how to function that it genuinely concerns me. Frankly I see it as a byproduct of many millenials moving out and becoming independent. I'm 24 now (*cracks open Monster*) and I'd wager that over half of my graduating high school class from 2012 still lives at home with their parents.

Even in college many of the people I met were still completely dependent on their parents to pay for their food and rent; very few had jobs, and most were given credit cards from mommy and daddy to pay for their munchies.

Hence why people who are well into their mid to late 20's are struggling do basic things like vacuum their room or finance a loan. And why they think it's a big deal and something worth posting on Facebook about when they brew their own coffee or make their own spaghetti or go to the Post Office or DMV for the first time alone.

The best thing you can do to an 18 year old is ship them to a new city and let them be completely financially independent; throw a kid in the middle of a lake and he'll learn to swim real fast.
