That's a popular opinion. People say that all the time about food in general ("you don't need sauce if it's cooked right!"). I personally think that's retarded though since I don't use sauce to correct a food's flavor, I use it because I like it. It's like saying you don't need cheese and meat if you do a good enough job making scrambled eggs. That kind of thinking misses the point that you can add stuff to food because you like the addition rather than because you wouldn't like it without the addition.
