Most places I prefer cheeseburgers, there are a few notable exceptions.

White Castle: I think it is the cheese they use, normal white castles just taste better to me than their cheeseburgers.

Burger King: specifically the whopper is better without cheese, everything else is better with.

At home: it's a mix depending on what else is going on the burger. Obviously bacon and blue, or mushroom and Swiss are going to have cheese, and there are several good cheddar and X combinations. But some things, like BBQ sauce and grilled onions, or avacado burgers.... they don't need cheese.
