I'm going to a potluck type thing Friday and I want to bring something tasty and homemade. Anyone have any decent potluck recipes?
No salads, or fruit platters. I brought meatballs last time so that's off the table.

This is my go to for shit like that: lasagna dip.

Bring this and a bunch of garlic bread.

Go get a pork shoulder and slow roast it with garlic, cilantro, lime, black pepper, coriander, salt, and red bell peppers/jalapenos. Do it in your oven at 225* overnight or in a crock pot. Guaranteed hit, and leftovers.

The last four potlucks my workplace had, I brought
>dirty rice: cheap, easy, quick, tasty, reheats well
I made a double batch and through it in a disposable roasting pan to take in. People liked it, but I still had leftovers to bring home.
>chili dogs: cheddar brats and a slow cooker full of three cans of Castleberry hot dog chili, bag of cheddar and dish of minced onions.
Almost didn't get eaten, actually, I left my shit in the breakroom fridge and nobody told me when they were laying the food out. By the time my lunch break rolled around and I hit the spread, added my shit to it, half my co-workers had already ate. Had to send a group email, "Hey guys, there's thirty cheddar brats and near two pints of hot dog chili in there, none of you told me when we were kicking things off. Y'all eat some of this, if you've already had lunch grab a couple to take home. I literally don't have room in my fridge for all this." They pulled through, did some serious damage before I left. Only had to take three dogs back with maybe a half cup of hot dog chili.
>flan
The potluck theme was Mexican food, and I don't do that. I cook Americana, not ethnic cuisine. Just bought some cups of flan, and God help me, they tore that shit up. Ate it all, which was fine, because I personally ain't fond of it.
>Little Caesars thin crust Extra Most Bestest pizzas
The point where I stopped giving a shit entirely. 'Take me out to the ballpark', what kind of theme is that? Two niggers done made hot dogs, I can't make cheddar chili fries or loaded nachos because the shit's gonna sit for hours before we're free to eat it, fuck it, basement tier pizza. Eat this shit if you want it, and never bother me again. I'd bring Tombstone pizza, if I had time to bake them all before work, but I didn't.

I'm sick of my company potlucks. I'mma opt out of the next one and tell the group to go fuck themselves.

seeing as literally every single other recommendation ITT and likely every single other dish at this potluck will be heavy and rich (or maybe a shit salad)

why don't you make some of these, fresh, light, nice contrast.
The few times i've taken them, people have loved them
Even when I make tofu ones. They're very easy to make too, and cheap.

You just buy some sheets of rice paper, soak one in hot water for like a minute, put it on a board, fill it, and roll it. You could do chicken, or shrimp, or tofu, with veges or just veges

Take a dipping sauce too.

have you ever made them before?

There are lots of other salads that do as well, mostly with cooked vegetables, marinaded roast red pepper or a roast brocolli salad for example, although those might not go down as well

Studies have shown that owning a cat is not a predictor for toxoplasmosis studies. It's spread primarily through undercooked meat and unwashed vegetables. Additionally, cats only shed the virus for the first week of incfection.
So unless you eat the turds of a feral kitten, you'll be okay. I don't think anyone does that, except for your le doggo right before it gives you "kisses."

Well trained, calm dogs are cool as shit, but the majority are misbehaved and their owners just treat it like it's no big deal, like parents with shit kids.
Sure, some cats will claw if you try to pet them, but I have to initiate the interaction with those types.
Meanwhile, my cousin let's his dogs out of his room so they won't bug him and they jump all over me trying to sleep on the couch.
Covered my head with the blanket to try and get them to chill, one still jumped on my stomach (big dogs), so I put my legs underneath him and bounced him off the ceiling. My head was under the blanket, so I didn't know his wife had come down until I heard her gasp. I know she tattled and he never said anything, so I guess at least he knew the dogs were a pain in the ass.

My girlfriends dog (she had two but one ran away and got hit by a car because of the lamdscapers opening the gate) eats out of the trash, jumps on the table, and gets on the furniture the second we leave the room. It ate dark chocolate I had on my desk by jumping from a lower platform then onto the desk. It misbehaves wheny girlfriend is around and even worse when my gfs mother is around.

The wrong dog died desu.
