yeah, i'd eat practically anything. but i wouldn't pay $600 for a lobster unless i won the lottery or got a really good job.

>> No.12233029

What is the point of this? Is it really some unique flavor or is it like fugu that tastes of nothing, yet people pay for the rarity and poison thrill?

No, it's pretty.
I'd put it in an aquarium.

That basically is equivalent to winning the lottery in today's economy.

Is it really a lobster though? It doesn't have pincers, so it seems more like a very big prawn.

No, older animals like that generally have much less flavor and are tough. Same thing with fish. A 2-3lb catfish will be much better eating than a 15 lb monster. Same is true of mammals. A big old buck will generally have rank, tough meat compared with a 2 year old doe. Most people know not to harvest such animals unless for food unless you're in a starvation situation. Let them go, they obviously had good genes to survive that long so let them continue to improve the species. They taste like shit at that point.

hell no. if you put that thing near me i'd run away. remember watching some video from okinawa or somewhere and this giant fucking crawdad looking thing was just strolling down the street. fucking nips are scared of going outside with wet hair but let monstrosities like that just cruise around town. imagine jogging at 5 am and stumbling over one of those fucking monsters.

like nothing. it used to be considered a trash food until old timey hipsters found it and turned it into the old timey oxtail soup.

>> No.12233812

>it used to be considered a trash food
... because they hadn't figured out how to transport live lobsters over long distances yet so the only way to get lobster meat beyond the coast was in a tin.
Even today, the primo "soft shell" lobbies are too delicate to export.
