I am not sure why the hate on American cheese. It is not meant to be consumed alone at all. It's the best topper for a lot of sandwiches, something it excels at.

There is only one time I'll ever eat American cheese, and that is Cooper Sharp White on a Lebanon Bologna sandwich on a potato roll. It's not that individually wrapped cheese slice shit, but it's alright on that. I can't eat it anywhere else on anything else. Just on that very specific sandwich.

I'll only use American cheese for 3 things (and it has to be real American cheese, not Kraft singles).
Grilled cheese
Burgers (bot all burgers, just the basic style)
Basic ham sandwich (bread, mustard, ham, cheese, lettuce)

And, it's mainly because it's nostalgic for me, since I ate those with American cheese when I was a child.
