It depends in how busy it is, and how inept the server possible is. Kitchens live and die by ticket numbers and how long things should reasonably take to go out. If a shitty server brings a complicated request back it can throw a wrench in things because there wont be a ticket associated with it. A good server will tell the table it will take a second and make sure they have drink refills etc until the cook has time. A refire wont take priority over whatever is being cooked, and a professional chef never takes that shit personally

The yelling, and particularly how 'basic' the messages being yelled are, make it seem dumb, but it's absolutely 100% necessary to keep everyone safe. Everyone is going as fast as they can, operating at least half on muscle memory a lot of the time, with hot things and knives and such all over the damn place. Minimizing the chance of hurting yourself or others is a huge deal.

As an example, I once had a dishwasher picking up some pans from the line, behind the saucier station and he didn't call behind. The other guy working it with me turned around with a screaming hot skillet of lamb he was basting to grab some thyme garlic etc to toss in, saw the guy right behind him, jerked to a stop to avoid burning him, and spilled smoking hot fat all down his arms.
