Has anyone else tried using egg shells as an antacid? Egg shells are almost entirely calcium carbonate, so after boiling an egg you can grind up the peeled eggshell and eat a pinch of it.

You'd have to grind it into a fine powder with a mortar and pestle or something, but I don't see why it wouldn't work otherwise. Eggshell powder is a good glass flux, too. When I was younger I used to fuck around with making glass only from common grocery store ingredients. There are other fun, weird chemistry projects you can do with common stuff.

Its a lot less effort to just keep a box of sodium bicarbonate in your pantry, and its insanely cheap.

Put a quarter teaspoon into a soda, and it'll kinda taste weird and go flat, but it'll kill your heartburn instantly.

Do you still have stuff you made from back then ?

Nah. It was a long time ago. I think I have a notebook somewhere where I had written down all my recipes. A couple of my best discoveries were that you can make an Egyptian paste/faience from grocery store shit and some playground sand; and there was a brand of toothpaste that was a complete high-fire copper red ceramic glaze. I think it may have been Aquafresh. It was fun melting shit in kilns and furnaces.

I recently watched a video with a guy who was harvesting bismuth from drug store pepto and using it to grow crystals. Also neat.

actually you can eat properly cleaned egg shells no problem. make sure they're clean as the egg shell may contain a disease the mother chicken had.

lots of aging body builders will eat egg shells for the properties they contain which helps joint pain and joint damage.

I prefer some baking soda in a glass of water. Works beautifully.

I've never tried that, but I have tried adding the eggshells to my coffee grounds like the meme suggests. Makes the coffee smooth, I suppose because it's neutralizing acids in the coffee.
