Frankly there are too many craft breweries here in the midwest. I think we only need two, three at the most and beer should never be brewed in Illinois or Michigan. Those states are dirty.

I'm glad you asked, the answer is you're retarded
but let me indulge; taxes on individual bottles of wine are higher than taxes on individual bottles of beer due to volume and ABV
Also, the restaurant doesn't charge $10 more because they are paying $10 more
>how do restaurants make profit on alcohol
>what is markup
I'm glad you asked, the answer is you're retarded
In order for a restaurant to profit, they need to charge the customer 3-4 times what they paid for a product. Labor, supply and repairs/maintenance eat huge amounts of that. If a restaurant is earning 18% total profit they are doing very well.
So in your example the extra $10 charged to the customer per bottle comes from an actual extra tax paid of $2-3 per bottle
also, you're retarded and gtfo back to california

And family get-togethers like that are not primarily about the food. My folks used to meet up bi-yearly in a local traditional Schützenhaus. Giant hall remodeled into a restaurant. Wallpaintings with scenes from the Siegfried legend. Big all you can eat buffet with all the classics. Really good asparagus ham rolls. One time my grandma had a dispute with the waiters over the bill. Now we are going to a cheap asian all you can eat with 10 different kinds of meat that all taste the same. >> No.12602528

The only midwest experience I have was a 3 day trip to Omaha. It was fun, but I was taken aback by the way people dressed for work and to go nice lounges and restaurants as if they were hanging out in their backyards or something. Since the city wasn't big enough for those bus tours where you get to go around the city and learn about its culture and history, I hired a private car tour. The driver was very formal, but the tour guide showed up in cargo shorts and a golf shirt and had absolutely no plan for how he was going to do the tour even though that was his job through a city tour agency. The overall experience was fine, but I cannot see ever living in the midwest, especially if that's the best a fairly "large" midwest city (supposedly the midwest fashion capital) has to offer.

I recently bought a bunch of bottles of French wine that was bottled in 2015. A few of them were whites, so I did pour, smell, and taste a small amount to make sure it was still good, but I was thinking in terms of taste not spoilage.

parts of the plains are technically in the 'midwest' but are very different in a lot of ways from the proper midwest like OH, WI, MI, MN, IN, and IL. Midwestern culture values conformity and authority. Children are taught that disagreeing is extremely rude. As a result they grow up without learning how to handle even slight differences of opinion, so while there's a veneer of "nice" they will go from 0-100 with almost no warning (if you've lived there long enough you can sometimes detect the warnings, like attempting to change the subject to sports or the weather at seemingly inappropriate times).

If the warning signs are ignored you are in uncharted territory and with the fetishization of guns as a symbol of masculinity, things can get dangerous very quickly. Especially if you look, dress, think, talk, or have a surname that indicates that "you're not from around here boy"

The property taxes are marginally higher than the coasts, but the housing insurance is, on average, significantly lower. Overall, you will get something far cheaper, far bigger in the middle of the country even including lifetime expenses. Especially after you factor in general cost of living.

>general cost of living.
That's faulty math though, it's like saying "you can buy saffron for cheaper in algeria" and then pretending the cost of getting yourself to algeria is somehow irrelevant

Most people would rather live where they would prefer to live, and pay what it costs

The coasts have higher paying jobs, and less shitty ignorant people

Purchasing power actually matters more then all that shit.

California's purchasing power is around 70 cents to the dollar. So 100k a year in Cali is more like ~70k.

Then take a state on the other side of that like Kentucky where 100k is worth around 120K and it just becomes clear whats going on. If you make 60k in Kentucky you will actually have more purchasing power then someone that makes 100k in Cali.

It just depends on the state. But even so, a $500k 20+ acre property with a 2000 sq ft house in WA state may have annual taxes of $3000/year more or less depending on the county, and it's not going to be vastly more expensive in most states as long as it's not a state with ridiculous property taxes like CA, CT, NJ, or TX for some examples. There are plenty of states where it would cost less. I'm not sure how much home insurance would vary, but it's probably not going to be enough to break the bank especially when you consider the much lower general cost of living in many non-coastal states. From what I've seen when looking around for homes on Zillow, you usually get a shitload more for your money in flyover land.

I like to do a combination of both, especially when you can get on and off those buses for 24-48 hours any time and as many times you please. But it was an exceptionally small turn around, more like 2.5 days, with a family member who was still recovering from a severe car accident, so their walking was limited to a slow 15 minutes at a time. I thought it would be better than going through a museum since we could sit most of the time, get out here and there to see landmarks, and it was easier on him to listen to/conversate with someone than to concentrate on reading a lot of information. The hands down funniest moment was when the tour guide told us he was taking us through the "historic African American district" like we gave a fuck about looking at a bunch of condemned houses surrounded by trash. We almost told him to turn around and skip that part, but what we entered didn't look anything near as bad as typical "predominantly black" areas and we were curious about what he could possibly want to show us there. We did see not one, but two cars flipped over on the side of the road, so that was interesting I guess.
