Pinapple, as it's called in English, kinda works for some sorts of cooking. I've been experimenting with it since I found out it has those tenderising enzymes, and I've found that it really does work quite well in braised and simmered meat dishes at least. A little pineapplejuice on a chicken you're roasting isn't bad either.

tinned pineapple is cooked in can which denatures the enzyme responsible for tenderizing the meat and will not work.

they're usually canned when they're in season aka when they're the cheapest to do so, which also means the shit you get in a can tends to be better quality and 'fresher' than if you buy it 'fresh' out of season.

obv the ideal is to buy in fresh when in season (fall and winter) and buy it canned when not. canned is also a tad more convenient to store and use, if you don't mind the extra trace metals in your food.

There's no "trick" to decent sauce. Just use some fresh herbs and add some pork in for flavor.
