My local burger king closed down 2 or 3 years ago and I miss it dearly. The place did make money, but the franchisee owned the lot the restaurant was on and it was cheaper for him to demolish the place, put a new building and rent it than to modernize the Burger King to franchise specs.

I live in the Chicago area, and with one exception ever visit to Burger King in the last ten years has sucked. That's about a dozen visits and almost as many locations spread throughout city and suburbs. And they all fucking suck. Terrible service, slow, poor food quality (they always fuck something up), etc.

I think they're all owned by the same franchisee, a corporation owned/run by some super rich Cuban guy I read about while investigating why Burger Kings in my area are all so terrible. That's the only conclusion I can reach. It's almost uncanny how bad they all are. Most fast food places are hit or miss, but Burger King (at least in the Chicago area) is almost guaranteed to be a miss.

Yeah, I've thought that too. The black-to-beaner/poor-white ratio is much higher at BK than at McDonald's, which is consistently okay, and at other fast food joints, which are hit or miss. So maybe that's part of it.

But I will say my one good BK experience in the last ten years was at an apparently all-black location, and the people and service were phenomenal. It was surreal, given that it was fucking Burger King AND all-black staff.
