Euro here, I recently moved to America for work and I noticed the food quality is very shit compared to Europe. Never in my life had a pimple breakout until I moved to America. Any of bros know where I can buy good quality food in America that won’t poison my body?

>> No.12763880

Washington, D.C. has pretty decent restaurants of most sorts.

Lots of farmers markets too.

Just buy at a farmer's market. You have one near you?

1. don't buy their bread - I had to make my own when I lived there
2. you have to cook your own food
3. enjoy some international restaurants that are good, like Vietnamese or Indian cuisine
4. avoid their desserts, snacks and drinks, it's basically chemicals and oil/sugar

What State, what City? What neighborhood? What's your income level/budget? Are you talking quality in restaurants (your fault usually), or quality of frozen foods, or quality of fresh produce?

I'll tell you MOST americans will not assume one single store is all good all the time, aside from the miracle that is #1 in everything Publix, most everywhere else has some issues with selection, freshness, freshness of organic, service differences, etc. Wealthier people will shop some things at Costco, some items from Whole Foods, supplement basics from WalMart or Target, bread from a favorite boutique bakery or ethnic bakery, and shop some cheaper items from whatever low end grocery caters to hispanic foods or asian foods, etc. Farmer's markets on weekends. Sometimes you get into a coop and get baskets of seasonal produce for a set fee deliverable or picked up on weekends once a week.

You pretty much have to cook for yourself. Americans have been raised on shit tier foods that are high in sugar, fats, and additives, but we have an abundance of food so buying fruits, vegetables, meats, and grains are all fairly cheap in comparisons to other parts of the world. Not only do we have a lot of locally grown food because we have so much farming land, but we have a lot of fairly cheap imported foods due to competition. Pretty much anything that can be reasonably shipped in mass can be found in America because our niche markets are larger than most of the world's niche markets.

In the last 4 years or so I've been mostly cooking, and in the last 2 years I believe I've only eaten out maybe 5 times, which includes ordering a pizza a few months back.

I don't know what point you're trying to make. Everybody knows american supermarkets are loaded with fresh produce all year round with reasonable prices, along with tons of food staples of endless variety. A picture of some processed ham is not indicative of american food quality as a whole.

Farmers markets. Check if there's any food coops close to your place and consider joining. They tend to be a lot larger and well stocked than in Europe.

Trader Joe's has a pretty good selection of European cheeses.

You could buy a whole or half ham in America too lol, but yes it will cost more than in Poland. I don't usually notice whole hams for sale unless it's around Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Easter though I'm in Las Vegas as opposed to the deep south and midwest where it's more popular. Pork shoulder/boston butt is always available here and often whole pork legs, but ready made hams are usually sold in much smaller sizes. Also if you want inexpensive food, don't buy it premade retard.

>Never in my life had a pimple breakout until I moved to America.

I'm actually glad to hear that somebody else has had this experience. My wife is from the USA and I'm moving there soon, but every time I'm there I get horrific acne and bloating. I seriously look like 5kg heavier as soon as I eat a couple days of food in the US, because something about it doesn't agree with my body. This is not a DO AMERICANS REALLY HAHAHAAA shitpost because I actually like America.

You should be able to buy a variety freshly baked bread with no additional ingredients/preservatives from most grocery stores. At the minimum, you should be able to buy fresh french bread, baguettes, and some style of rolls. Baking your own is great too, but it's not necessary if you buy your groceries anywhere other than a convenience store.

USA is a big country and is diverse within as most European countries are with each other. Especially the food options and variety will vary greatly depending upon whether you live in a large city or regional centres, and also vary between different large cities due to their local influences. Generally big business dominates and can dictate what's available in their area of influence. Try researching local expatriates who have been in your situation and have local knowledge to help you settle in to your new environment.

I'm American and feel shitty like that any time I eat from chain restaurants and prepackaged food. I happen to live somewhere that has plenty of local restaurants, but I mostly cook at home and avoid processed foods like poor quality cheese, salad dressing (especially shelf stable ones), and mass produced bread, for example. Stick to mostly from scratch cooking and only using premade things that have minimal to no added ingredients as well as making strategic choices on what to eat when you're out.
